Writer without distinction of any literary genre, and inventor of the virtual modular game "resuJESUS". Born on August 1st, 1962, in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. Since childhood he excelled as a meritorious student, achieving twice the best academic average grade of the year at Instituto Politécnico Loyola (1979 and 1980). He was also elected twice as Chessplayer of the Year in the same academic institution (1981 and 1982). In October, 1985, won the first place at the Gran Copa de Colombia de Ajedrez (Great Chess Cup of Colombia) in Queens, New York, with amateur chessplayers of 17 countries.
Has been awarded several literary prizes at Instituto Politécnico Loyola (Loyola Polytechnic Institute), Casa de Teatro (House of Theater), Universidad Autónoma de Santo Domingo (Santo Domingo Autonomous University), Sociedad Cultural Alianza Cibaeña (Cibao Alliance Cultural Society), El Periódico (The Newspaper) (awarded by the late poet, journalist, and ecologist Daniel Martich-Lorenzo –RIP-), El Informador del Sur (newspaper) (The Southern Informant) (awarded by journalist Ruddy Medrano), Cámara de Comercio y Producción de San Cristóbal (San Cristóbal Chamber of Commerce and Production) (Award to Entrepreneur Excellency and Talent of San Cristóbal as Writer of the Year 1998), Dirección General de Promoción a la Juventud (General Directorate for Promotion of Youth), TV Program "Equilibrio" (Equilibrium) (awarded by the extinct journalist Johnny Martínez-González –RIP-), Fundación Hermanos Tejeda (Foundation Brothers Tejeda) (President: Héctor Bienvenido Tejeda Beltré), Secretaría de Estado de Cultura (State Secretariat of Culture) and Ballet Folklórico San Cristóbal (San Cristóbal Folkloric Ballet) (Reconocimiento "Eminencias Folklóricas del Siglo XX – Versión 2007" (Twentieth Century Folkloric Eminencies – Version 2007) as Culture Scholar) (Teacher Fernando Pérez), and emotive award by writer Altagracita Ramírez.
Has been an English-as-a-Foreign-Language teacher at the Instituto Cultural Domínico-Americano (Dominican-American Cultural Institute) and The English Center, in Santo Domingo. Has written numerous opinion articles for national newspapers, mainly in San Cristóbal. The Free Encyclopedia Wikipedia quoted him as a "Dominican theologian and poet" in 2005 due to his contributions to the thought of the Dutch philosopher Baruch Spinoza regarding the meaning of the word "Pandeism".
The San Cristóbal intellectual Teddy Brito considers that his best short-stories are "Círculos Concéntricos" (Concentric Circles), First Prize at Sociedad Cultural Alianza Cibaeña (Cibao Alliance Cultural Society) in 1990, and "La Muerte Inefable" (The Ineffable Death), Honor Mention at Concurso Dominicano de Cuentos de Casa de Teatro (Casa de Teatro Dominican Short-Story Contest) in 1997.
Published the critical-anthological book "¡Metapoesía de Mí!" ("Metapoetry of Mine!") in 2003, including metapoets of five countries from Movimiento Internacional Metapoesía (Metapoetry International Movement), founded by Dr. Jorge Piña in 1990, and Alcántara-Fernández belongs to that creative movement since 1991. Coordinated the meta-pictorial exhibits "Imagen Lúdica" (Ludicrous Image) and "Doce Metapoemas de Jorge Piña" (Twelve Jorge Piña's Metapoems) in Casa de Teatro (House of Theater) and Fundación Casa de Arte Marcial Báez (Marcial Báez Art House Foundation), San Cristóbal, in 2003 and 2004, respectively. His metapoem Livia "AMOR" (Livia "LOVE") reached the finals at II Premio de Poesía Angel Miguel Pozanco (Angel Miguel Pozanco Poetry Award II) (Spain) in 2005.
In December, 2007, the State Secretariat of Culture published his short-story book "Por Nuestro Bien" ("For Our Own Good"). Alcántara-Fernández is a journalist for the monthly newspaper El Guardián, from San Cristóbal, directed by Víctor Martínez, B.S., and the Internet newspaper OpinionSur.Com, directed by his brother William Alcántara-Fernández, B. S.
